I am a huge fan of Primus. It all started with this album. When I first heard it, it blew me away. I had never heard anything like it. Songs like Tommy the Cat and Here Come the Bastards have been stuck in my head ever since. Les is one of the great bass players of our time. If you think you have never heard Les or Primus think again. Primus did the Theme song for Southpark and Les did the theme for Robot Chicken. Buy this Album. You will love it.

Well I am back in the office after a weekend with a bad headache. My entertainment consisted of watch movies on Cable and Burning my Divx stuff off of a hard drive.
I did play some Donkey Konga though. Good game if you have not tried it.

I also read about the upcoming PSP Bios Upgrade. They are enabling a full web browser. That is great news. Oh yeah I bought these new headphones for my PSP that sound amazing.

I have tried a few of the online music stores and thought that I should discuss them.

ITunes Store
Of course this is the biggest store out there. They just past 500M downloads. At 99c a song they are about on par with a CD's Price. The quality is good to. you are limited to using IPod for Portability, but that is what most people use anyway. Now they are talking about adding Video and Movies. This is great. That Mac Mini will truly come into it's own with this. Like I said before, it is the perfect HTPC.

Napster
Napster was great, When it was free. Of course that was against the law. They are doing ok now though. They introduce Napster on the go which is a monthly few so you can RENT all the music you can fit on an MP3 Player. This is pretty good. They have afew different players that it works on. Cost is about 15$ a month.

Rhapsody
This is Best Buys Project. Can't say much about it.

Yahoo
Just got started and it rattled some chains. They are doing the On the Go idea as well. But it is only like 7$ a month. They also have worked to make it compatible with Microsofts "Work with" Program. This is a very good deal.

Allofmp3.com
This is a Grey area Russian company. They have tons of music and formats. The price is right to. 1c per meg. That is like 3-5c a song on average. Problem is I don't think they have to pay the artists. I doubt it will be around much longer.

There are several others. But those are the ones I am familar with. Hpe this was interesting.

Ok, I decided that I have been mixing things up a bit to much. So I have decided to give this site a schedule for the format. So here it is:

Monday - Weekend Entertainment Roundup.
I will talk about the things that have happened during the weekend. I will discuss the weeks Movie releases, Anything that was worth seeing on TV, and any Events worth mentioning.

Tuesday - CD, DVD, Video game Release Day.
Pretty Self explanitory. I will discuss release that I find interesting and I think you will like.

Wednesday - Hump Day Humor and Movie Related News.
My wife has wanted me to start putting up the crazy stories she finds. I think Hump day is the perfect day for this. I will also round up the best Movie gossip.

Thursday - Gizmo Roundup
This will be the day I discuss new tech toys that everyone loves.

Friday - Toys and Computer Stuff.
I love action figures and toys. I will talk about the cool new releases that I have seen. I will also talk about computer stuff new and old.

Saturday - Sunday - Leftovers
I will use these days to talk about anything that I find during the weekend. Who know what will be here.

Of course, I will break this lineup alot, but it at least gives an idea of what will be here. Hope this is an enjoyable format.

TV: Now that Star Trek is on Hiatus, which series?

I was a die hard fan of Deep Space Nine. I loved the storyline and characters. Like all Star Treks, the first couple seasons were a little hokey. I feel that DS9 had the most to offer though. The last Season was by far the best Star Trek stuff ever. I really wich that they had made movies with this crew. TNG was great, but with wars going on in DS9 they could have had a field day.

Plus you have to love Quark and Nogg and The Grand Negus. Ferangei( I think thats right) are great. Odo was a great advisary for Quark too. When they brought in Worf. I thought that was an interesting Idea. When they had him kill the Klingon Chancellor, I was floored. That was a great move.

Anyway, Which did you like and for what reasons? What about Babylon 5? Alot of people say DS9 is a rippoff of it. One of the shows creators has pitched a new Star Trek idea to Paramount for a new series. Is this good or Bad? Let me know what you think.

Jack Johnson is a surfer. He is also a pretty good musician. I first heard him with the release of On and On and really enjoyed it. I think this is on performer that has a strong future ahead of him. Here's what Rolling stone thinks:

I am a big fan of this group. I listened to the first album for months. The remix versions were even better. This album is good, I think I built it up to much though so it was not as great as I had hoped it would be. Look for the Feel Good Inc Single with the song Bill Murray on it. It is an Import but wel worth the extra dough. Here is what Pitchfork had to say.

I found this CD to be interesting. It is far from perfect, but it has it's moments. Rolling Stone had this to say about it:

TV: Shows I loved that were promptly cancelled

Well apparently I have bad taste in television. It seems like everytime I find a show that I like it is cancelled promptly. I have pretty much given up on most US television because of this. Here is a list of shows I liked in the past couple years that were cancelled.

1. The Job (ABC)- Dennis Leary's cop comedy that was on ABC. I loved this show. I have head that his new show is pretty good but have not had a chance to watch it.

2. The Tick (Fox)- I love The Tick. I have been a fan since I first saw the cartoon years ago. It was just crazy humor. The Casting of Patrick Warburton was perfect too. At least this came out on DVD's. You can find Great Copies of the entire cartoon series on Ebay too.

3. Dead Like Me (Showtime)- This was one of the Best show on TV for a couple years. You just can't go wrong with humor about Grim Reapers. This is also On DVD.

TV: Doctor Who on BBC

I am a huge fan of Doctor Who. I grew up watching Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor. I was so excited when i heard that Doctor Who Was comeing back. Then I was Disappointed to find out that it was not being shown in the US.

So I did what every Geek did. I used BitTorrent. I was able to watch each episode within 3 hours of it showing in the UK. It was great. The show is Wonderful. IT remains true to the old series while updating to our time.

Well the first season is over and I am waiting to see the Christmas Special. I was curious, who else in the US has been watching the new episodes? Leave me a comment. Tell me about your experiences with Docotr Who. I dressed up as the Doc for Halloween when I was ten. Anyone else do that?

OK. I have quite a bit of advertising on my blog now. Please don't let this scare you. I am a student and am just trying generate some extra income while I do this site. As this site gets bigger, I will scale it down to the links that are being used.

I have decided to put links to CD's and movies that I review that lead to Amazon and Ebay. This is for choice. I recommend you check both out. Ebay has some interesting finds. I am always buying Import EP's from on Ebay. I am also a powseller(semi retired).

There are items that you can only find on Ebay of course. I will make sure you know in my reviews.

I also have Google Adsense on my site. This is a proven tactic in blogs.

I am a long-time audio enthusiast who is very excited about the popularity of quality music products like the iPod. However, a continual source of aggravation for me has been the terrible quality of the headphones that come with every portable device currently available. There are thousands of models of headphones to choose from, a nearly impossible number to consider.

Web sites that generally give good advice when it comes to electronics seem to fail miserably when recommending headphones, CNET being the worst offender. Another problem is the “user review” section of other sites, such as Amazn, By.com, etc. where people tend to recommend the headphone that they purchased without having listened to others (NOTE: When someone recommends any product, ask them if they own it, themselves, the answer is almost always “Yes.” Then ask what similar products they have experience with- the usual answer is “None.”)
Major stores like Target and Best Buy rarely stock a single decent headphone that is also affordable, so how are people who love music ever going to get a great headphone at a great price? Here’s how.

First, the Do Not Buy list.

1. Bose Tri-Ports and QuietComfort Headphones:
Pretty good sounding headphones, worth about $40 or less. Unfortunately they retail for $149 and $299, respectively. They are comfortable but are very cheaply built.

2. Sony MDR Series: Only a few good models have ever been made out of hundreds. The good ones are very good, but are $400 and up.

Finally, the BEST:

1. The “Gold Standard” of headphones is the Koss KSC35.
Retailing for $30 and available at Amazn for $24 or so, these blow the Bose Triports out of the water. They are intended for portable use and are the single best headphones to use on the iPod, but sound terrific out of a home stereo. Added bonus: Koss guarantees these headphones FOREVER, and they don’t require registration- you simply mail them to Koss who will either fix them or send you a new pair.

2. The Sony V6 & Sennheiser HD280 make up the next level of great headphones.
They both fold up for portable use, feature comfortable earcushions, are well-built and well-designed, and can be bought for less than $100. They provide isolation if you’re in a noisy environment, and are widely used by professional music studios.

3. The Sennheiser HD650- the Best of the Best.
These headphones list for $499, but are worth every penny to the audiophile. They are so good, in fact, that they require a high-end stereo to reach their full potential. If you own a quality stereo system with a good headphone jack, these will make you melt. Can’t afford the $500? The Koss KSC-35’s come remarkably close for just over $20!

BTK Serial Killer's house sells for $90,000

I moved into Park City, Kansas the day that the caught BTK there. He had been in my new home just one month prior to that to remove a cat. Our prior House was on the same street as the first suspect. And to top it off, My wife first house was 4 houses from the Otera home.

So needless to say, We follow this stuff a little. His house was just bought for about twice its value by a controversial strip club owner and her husband. On the Local news they had Neighbors threatening to shot them with shotguns if them came around them.

TOYS: Sony Playstation Portable

Ok I am a Nintendo Fanboy. I grew up playing Metroid and Mario. But I have to say that the Sony PSP is quite a nice handheld. It has a beautiful screen and sounds great. The Wi-Fi is quite nice too. I sat for 3 hours waiting for the new Star Wars to start and was able to play Twisted Metal Online in the theater. Get one of this babies. Nice Sony, Good Sony.

If you are my age (30) or younger, you may not have know that there was another Hunter S. Thompson movie that starred a young Bill Murray. This is another great movie. This time Hunter was hired to cover the Super Bowl. His crazied lawyer is in it as well, and it even touches on his guerilla rebel connection. Although this is an earlier and less successful attempt at tell one of Hunters stories, it is still a very good movie. I just thought that I should bring this up Johnny and Benico have signed to do The Rum Diaries next Summer.

In case you did not know, Criterion Discs are an absolute must have for any of the films that they release. This version has so many extra features and the transfer is outstanding. Hunter S. Thompson was a wild man, but also a brilliant man. That is a lethal combination. Follow him through the desert hell we call Vegas as he consumes every drug he can get. This is a masterpiece and director Terry Gilliam has my Thanks. This is one of my all time favorite movies.

Well INXS is my wife's favorite band. They just started a new reality show on CBS. I figured this was a good album to review. If you liked their songs that were played on the radio through the years then this is the one for you. It has them all. It is hard to say what they will be like with a new singer, but this is the good stuff. My wife is a bit concerned with the idea of a singer besides Michael Hutchence. We will just have to see how they turn out.

During my High School years I listened to The Orb all of the time. They have a very easy to listen to Ambient style that just gives itself to what ever yor are doing. Every album they have released has been an adventure in itself. This is their newest release and it is wonderful. The Land of Green Ginger is a very consuming song and a great example of their work. Give it a whirl on Amazon to see what I mean.

After the breakup of 4 Non-Blondes, lead singer Linda Perry went out on her own. This is here first studio album. It is a bit more meaningful and melodic then the Blondes, and yet it still has some of the charm. Linda has matured though, and brought forth an Album not to be missed. She Also has written songs for Christina Aguilera and Pink. This is a must for fan's of "What's Up" and it will not let you down.

In light of their reunion at the Live 8 Show, I thought I should put up something about this CD. This is a mind blowingly beautiful remaster of one of the greatest albums EVER. The SACD version of it is beyond words. Buy this CD, even if you own the original. Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands ever. I watched their set live on AOL Music. I am too young to have seen them 24 years ago, so this was very special. This band truly made the show. Everything they have made is great and I hope they decide to make one last Album.

The average worker wastes more than two hours a day, and that's not including lunch, according to a new Web survey by America Online and Salary.com. That means companies spend as much as $759 billion on salaries annually for which they receive no apparent benefit, the research found.

Oh man this was to good. I was ust sitting here wasting another hour when I found this story. If they only knew what the real number were really like.

Toy: IPod Shuffle 512mb

After trying many different MP3 players, I think I have found the best one. I work out at the gym daily. I needed a device that was light and did not distract me. This is the perfect size. I just plug it in to my Computer once a week, and it randomly downloads songs from my playlist while it charges. It is great, and a little errie. It seems to know what song I want to hear next. this is a must for everyone.

I have always been a fan of Crazy Cartoons and Comics. X-Men and the like are fine, but I love the goofy satirical humor in The Tick. After all, he's high-involnurable. His sidekick is a moth man and his buddies are loons. this is just great fun. Fox killed this series through bad time slots and lost a possible gem. If you like "Mystery Men", then this ws a show for you.

I thought, since the new version by Tim Burton Comes out this week, why not talk about the original. I grew up with this movie. It is still one of my favorites. If you have not seen it, you should before you see the other version. This one is not very accurate as far as the book goes, but hey, it is just a great story. I think Depp will be great as a new Wonka, but Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka.

I listened to the Album when a Friends of mine showed it to me. I know nothing about Bluegrass, but the idea of a Metallica tribute with Twang was just to cool. I have not been a big fan of Metallica for a long time. This album is amazing though. I listen to it all the time. If you like Metallica and the movie "Oh brother, Were Art Thou", you will love this CD's. They have take some of the best songs a done great things with them.

CD:Dave Matthews Band - Stand Up (2005

This is the newest release by DMB. It is a Bit of a departure for them as they are using a new produce who is into cut and paste, aka mixing, music. Although it does have a more refined sound, it has a more artificial sound to it. It is still a great album, but this is a jam band. It should sound like it was recorded on the fly. But I still love the group and the album is still quite enjoyable.

Welcome to TechsMechs. This is a blog that I have decided to start while I sit at work doing nothing. My Name is Khryz, that was my old online gaming name.

Here is what this site will be about:

GIZMO'S - I love new toys. I am always ooking for the next cool thing. PRoblem is I have a tendency to want something and then never use it (PSP, Servers, PDA's, DVD's, ETC). My wife gets a little tired of this, so I thought, hey I can wite about new things at rate them on how much I would really use them. So I will start doing this as I see new Items. I hope this helps you decide if something is worth your hard earned dough.
MUSIC - I also love music. I have around 4000 cd's and 300 gig's of additions stuff. I had a friend a long time ago who did a music review site and had me help with the onslaught of CD's that game in. It was great. I have wanted to do this on my own for a long time. I will review New's along with older stuff that you may not have heard of. I will try to give references to style and compare artist to others to give you ideas of their sound.
DVD'S - OK I am an Addict. On average I pickup between 3 and 10 DVD's a week. I have been doing this since the first day's of dvd's. Needless to say, I have ALOT of Movies. I will try to review some of them for you and give you ideas of interesting titles that I have found.

OK, so as I said I am doing these at work. I will try to post some reviews, or comments at least every weekday. We will see how this goes. I will put links up to the albums I review so you can buy them if you like. I know that sound's pretty commercial, but I think this will be beneficial to everyone. I believe I will use Amazon for Most of it. I think ITunes allows me to link as well so Wee shall see.
